Thank you for taking the time to follow the restoration of our B-17E #19032, "My Gal Sal." After 53 years of sitting on the Greenland icecap and 5 years in a hangar at Tillamook, Oregon, we began the restoration in April 2000. With the tragic events of September 11, it brings the realization that our great country is now under attack.
In a way, "My Gal Sal" is a symbol of unity, strength and sacrifice. Sixty years ago our country came under attack. It awakened a people who had a resolve like never before in history. Today it's a new war and a new generation. The men that flew the thousands of "My Gal Sals" left us a legacy. Now it's our turn to protect that legacy.
