"It has been extremely stressful here. We spent 4 days sailing up the east coast in gale force winds and waves 18 feet high. A few of the guys were so sea sick they didn't get out of bed the whole trip. Then when we got to the Longeness Fjord it was blocked by ice. We had to work our way through to the site, but when we got there the pictures didn't match up. We spent a day trying to find a place that matched. The next morning at dawn I took Dougherty and Blackdog and 2 extra cans of gas in the Zodiac and went all the way back out to the coast, then north to the Graah Fjord and 7 hours up it until I found a place that the photos matched. Apparently the Air Force report was wrong. On the way back we ran out of fuel near the entrance and had to row to keep the current from taking us out to sea. We kept calling the tug, but it had run aground and could not help us. We made it anyway. Yesterday we brought the Tug over and searched for the base camp and found it. It was very cool!!!! Today we have been side scanning since dawn. We all have our fingers crossed. The water here is 1500 feet deep so it is slow going with the scanner, but it means no burgs have hit the plane and it should be in beautiful shape." - Gary Larkins
