I know some of the folks who have been following our adventure since the beginning are anxious to know what is going on at this point. Unfortunately, there has not been much new to report. After an extensive search for the "Sooner" , the recovery team has determined that the there may not be enough left of the airplane to warrant a further investment in time. The conclusion is that the harsh environment due to the size and number of icebergs in the primary search area most probably destroyed the airplane over the past 57 years. This being the case, the team is moving to the site of another lost B-17 in another part of Greenland. This airplane is a B-17G lost in 1944 in similar circumstances. The crew survived the forced landing and were rescued from the site several days later. Before they left, pictures were taken and position reports were made that should lead us directly to the location on the aircraft. Unlike the " Sooner" , this fjord does not have same exposure to large icebergs and is much deeper. We believe that this means that the airplane has a much greater chance of surviving to this day in nearly the same condition it was in when it sunk down through the ice shortly after the forced landing. Keep the faith and keep praying for our safety and success. The attached photos show the crew and aircraft that we are now calling the "Later".
