Date July 27 1999 (two of two)

Today has been complete with ups and downs. As we retire to our berths, we are feeling more

positive. The days searches provided no visible clues and a lot of frustration. The water remains

full of ice and cold, and continues hampering our sonar and dive efforts. We have had a small

revelation that is now pointing us to a different area to search. A new plan has developed.

See attachment 7. A building was spotted on our way back to dock with the barge. Apparently

this may be a church that was used by the native rescuers when the crew was taken from the

island. We will develop the search pattern based on this new information...
